Brownville is back!

2021 events have kicked off for the summer! The spring flea market (over Memorial Day weekend) was a success and there are many more exciting events coming up. I want to share a few of the events scheduled for this year and tell you about some of the cool places to visit while in Brownville. Since I only list a few events, be sure to check out the community website for the full listing:

Welcome to Brownville Nebraska – Events, News and Info (brownville-ne.com)

The Brownville Historical Society hosted the 63rd annual spring flea market this past Memorial Day weekend and it was BIG! Lots of vendors and shoppers and the weather turned out beautiful. I think people are ready to get out again =)

The School House Art Gallery is featuring local artist, Rich Hayek, June 3rd through June 27th. Check out his amazing midwest landscapes this month.

The Brownville Concert Series is starting up their monthly concerts again beginning June 11-13 with an Elvis tribute concert featuring Joseph Hall. You won’t want to miss it! Check out Brownville Concert Series website for their 2021 concert schedule.

The Brownville Village Theatre has already started working behind the scenes for their summer plays & musicals. Check out their website for a list of shows & schedule.

The Spirit of Brownville boat opened up last weekend offering both sightseeing cruises and dinner cruises down the Missouri River. Did I ever mention that the dinner cruise is what brought me to Brownville in the first place?? Oh yeah, thanks to the dinner cruise, I have a fun, new hobby =)

4th of July Freedom Day Celebration: This year it is being held on Saturday July 3rd. There will be a 5k, 10k and 1/2 marathon, traditional parade, dog show (go Buddy!!), children’s activities, shops, cruises, concerts, and of course FIREWORKS!

Fall Flea Market: September 25 & 26. Another great flea market and another chance to find more treasures.

Old Time Autumn: Brownville’s fall festival will be held Oct 9 & 10. This festival is one of my favorites because the weather is starting to cool and you get a warm fuzzy feel that autumn is on its way. There’s food, boat cruises, artisan vendors, buggy rides & more.

Christmas in Brownville will be Saturday, December 4th. This is the town’s charming Christmas festival with lights, Christmas displays, food, shops & galleries all lit up for visitors to check out.

Cruise night is held every 4th Friday evening from April through October. Bring your fave car to join in or just stop over to check out!

There are numerous galleries, museums & shops open also so I would recommend saving some time to check them out. The Lyceum Cafe is serving lunch & dinner, Gospel Coffee & Ice Cream has the best coffee & ice cream, Whiskey Run Creek Winery & Distillery is open and of course stop by TJ’s Tavern or The Market for a cold drink.

Brownville also has a couple of the BEST bed & breakfasts around… the Pierce Cottage is a historic old house that you can rent through AirB&B and The River Inn Resort is a riverboat converted into a B&B. You will love them both!!

There is so much more that I didn’t even mention! Be sure to grab one of the 2021 event flyers from the visitor kiosk (also available at local shops) or check the community website and then you’ll have a full list of places, artists, gardens, museums & establishments.

Brownville is a great place to get away and enjoy the relaxed pace of a historic old river town. Come visit and see what all Brownville has to offer.
